Glass Gable House: Larch facade boards in "Red Amber"

About the project

The house is defined by a large glass gable elevation and vertical Degmeda “Red Amber” larch facade boards in a warm brown tone. Dark steel detailing frames the openings and edges, keeping the outline crisp. The cladding is set out in tall boards, and the vertical grain shifts in tone as daylight moves across the surface. Joint lines shift around the tall windows, breaking up the vertical run without changing the overall layout.

The exterior stays to a small set of materials – timber, glazing, and dark metal. This keeps the contrast clear and puts the attention on the meeting of warm wood and glass.

Boards Used in the Project

"Red Amber" Larch

“Red Amber” was chosen for its warm brown tone and consistent look across large vertical areas, while still keeping the grain and darker char lines visible.
