Kačerginė Forest Edge Residence: Vertical Larch facade boards in "Deep Char"

About the project

From Mašioto g., a two-storey home sits among mature pines at the very edge of the forest. On the street side, a deep-black facade of vertical boards and a pitched metal roof define the building – a dark plane that stands out clearly against the surrounding greenery. The plot around the house is kept open and spacious, with short lawn and low planting, so the facade does not get lost in the vegetation and the naturally growing pines become part of the composition.

Up close, the “Deep Char” finish reveals itself through surface texture – it gives the wall a depth that a uniformly painted black facade does not have. On a large dark surface, this is practical: the finish needs less maintenance, and with small touch-ups there is no constant need to think about repainting or exact colour matching. The nearby garage is finished in the same “Deep Char” tone, so the buildings read as one cohesive set from a distance.

Boards used in the project

"Deep Char" Larch

“Deep Char” larch boards form the main deep-black facade surface, highlighting the geometry of the openings and the crisp lines of the metal roof edges. Vertical installation keeps the facade direction clear and the rhythm orderly. Among naturally growing pines, this choice helps the house remain clearly visible, while the surface texture gives the dark facade a sense of life and depth.
